What homeowners should know
No-tent termite treatment: assessment and treatment options
When a no-tent option may be possible
A professional may consider targeted treatment for a limited drywood colony or a suitable non-fumigation approach for subterranean termites. No-tent does not mean no preparation, no disruption or guaranteed success.
When it may not be enough
If drywood termites are spread through inaccessible framing or multiple parts of a structure, a local treatment may not reach the full infestation. Ask the provider to explain the limitations and alternatives.
Questions to ask
Ask what evidence supports the recommendation, what areas are covered, how results are verified and what warranty exclusions apply.
Questions to ask before work begins
- What evidence supports the termite identification?
- Which areas and methods are included in the written scope?
- What preparation, safety precautions and follow-up are required?
- Are warranty terms, exclusions and renewal requirements provided in writing?
